The IDEA Aéroparc site in Nantes (44) is implementing the recycling of its waste!
Nourishing the CSR approach of the group, is above all deploying CSR projects in the field. A good example is our Aéroparc site located at Saint Aignan de Grandlieu (44), that worked on recycling its waste. An approach initiated in the field, then supported by the entire site team, with very encouraging results.
How was the waste recycling project put in place in the IDEA Aéroparc site?
BECOMING AWARE OF THE CHALLENGES
The starting point? Understanding that recycling our waste and that inherited from our suppliers reduces our environmental footprint while reducing the cost of their treatment.
CALLING ON EXPERTS
To scope the project, IDEA called on experts in the field: Suez. This partner supported the recycling preliminary design to explain the rules, techniques and services of waste treatment with a view to finding the appropriate solution.
MAPPING THE WASTE
The waste was mapped to determine the sources of waste, the type (paper, cardboard, plastic etc.), the volumes and the recyclability.
INTERNAL AWARENESS-RAISING TO BETTER ACT EVERY DAY
It is with the commitment of everyone that the site now reduces and better manages its waste. A coordinator, Hélène Patard, QSE lead, supported the teams to ensure their accountability and enhance their actions. Visual management panels were installed above the waste bodies to help with sorting and storing the waste by category.
What are the results?
With the “waste management” dashboard, each individual can measure and visualise the evolution of costs and percentage of recycling. Today, this collective initiative represents:
- A 45% decrease in the cost of treating waste at end February 2021
- 87.8% of the waste recycled after one month and half of sorting versus 5% in 2019
